The Freestyle Frisbee European Championships will take place on Sept 8-9, 2006 on Pineta Savini Beach in Roseto degli Abruzzi Italy, a town, situated on the Adriatic coast.
The best freestylers from across Europe will compete for the chance to be crowned European Champion in 2 divisions; Open Pairs (2 person teams), Open Co-op (3 person teams) and Mixed Pairs (1 boy an 1 girl) Many players from Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, ecc are expected to compete.
On Sunday there will also be a demonstration by some of the top American players who will also be the official judges together to the others European players of the competition.
The judges will evaluate the routines as they're performed based on 3 categories; artistic impression, difficulty and execution.
The freestyle routines will be 4 or 5 minutes long and feature creative, artistic and athletic moves with flying discs choreographed to music.
Competitive freestyle combines aspects of gymnastics and dance with the basic game of throw, catch and spin. In this way, the Players – by Delay, Brushing and Rolling into the Wind – are able to keep disc on their fingernails on else suspended on air. So players can try to performe various trick or combos according to each own style.

In addition to official routines you often see Freestylers also play for fun. They improvise big group of Jammers. This activity is called “Jamming” and it’s an important moment of this sport for severeral players.
The European Freestyle Championships (EFC) will take part during the Vola Vola Ecofestival (september 6,7,8 and 9).
It consist of a music,arts, ecolabs and sports performing show, so if you want to bring your family they will enjoy theatre shows, entertainment for kids and they can also know our town through tasting our typical food. |
